House Rules and Inventory List for Holiday Home “Joie de Vivre” - May 28, 2026.
Our house is located in a quiet residential area.
Please be considerate of the neighbors.
After 10 PM, please keep noise to a minimum.
Upon Arrival
Please immediately check if everything is in order with the house, the garden, and the pool. If not, please report it immediately so that it can be repaired quickly. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email us.
For Your Safety
Smoke and CO2 detectors are installed in the house, along with fire extinguishers for the upper (in the kitchen) and lower floors (in the small kitchen). A first-aid kit is also available for minor emergencies. The pool is secured with a cover when not in use (see pool rules).
Need Assistance or in Case of Emergency?
For the local emergency services, you can find all relevant numbers in the house folder. An overview is also posted on the kitchen wall. The doctor's number is in the medicine cabinet in the kitchen.
If you urgently need assistance with something related to the garden, house, or pool, you can contact Annie or Gérard Cluzel. They live near our house and take care of the property and garden (they only speak French!). If language is a barrier, you can contact me. If I don't answer, please leave a message or send a text, and I'll call you back as soon as possible.

The Septic Tank
This house drains its wastewater into a septic tank, where it is purified through bacterial decomposition.
Therefore, do not use chlorine-based cleaning products (BLEACH) and be frugal with harsh chemicals. Do not flush food scraps, sanitary pads, wet toilet paper, etc., down the toilet. Only rinse dishwater down the sink.
Please wipe greasy pans with a kitchen towel before placing them in the dishwasher.
Using the Kitchen
Our stove has 4 electric burners and 7 gas burners, with the gas bottles stored in the kitchen cabinet to the right of the stove. There are two bottles; if one runs out, it can be swapped with the other. If you are unable or unwilling to do this yourself, please call our French contacts. Normally, there is no need to change the bottles as they are well-filled.
Feel free to use the herbs in the herb garden and the spices and cleaning products in the kitchen. Just remember to restock when they run out.
The Water
We have a water softener system. The water is drinkable, but we recommend drinking filtered water or bottled water instead.
Underfloor Heating
Both bathrooms have underfloor heating. Please only use this during the cold winter months. The display should be set to 'off.'
Barbecuing
There is no barbecue provided at the holiday home. Barbecuing is very risky during the hot summer months and is therefore not permitted.
Pool Rules
1. Our pool is usually available from early April to late October. The pool is heated to 24 degrees C during April-May and September-October.
2. The owner is responsible for ensuring the proper security of the pool, in accordance with legal regulations.
3. Children under 14 years old may only use the pool under adult supervision, and it is mandatory for children without a swimming certificate to wear a life jacket/armbands.
4. The pool is secured by a cover (solar-powered; an instruction video will be sent to you in advance) that must be closed and locked at all times when the pool is not in use.
5. This security measure should never replace parental supervision of their children. The owner is not liable for accidents in a pool belonging to the holiday home.
Upon arrival, the tenant must check the functionality of the security system and immediately report any defects to the owner.
6. Accidents resulting from the tenant disabling the security system or leaving the pool unattended are solely the responsibility of the tenant.
7. The tenant must keep constant supervision of the pool when the security system is temporarily disabled (cover is open). The tenant will also not leave the pool unsecured if they are not present at the holiday home with their fellow tenants. The tenant is explicitly responsible for any accidents involving third parties (neighbor's children, etc.).
8. The tenant is not permitted to operate the technical installation of the pool (water and heat pumps) themselves. If there are issues with the pool, the tenant must promptly inform the owner to prevent further damage.
9. The owner cannot fully guarantee the temperature of the pool water. Closing the pool cover helps retain the warmth of the water. Any inability to use the pool due to low water temperature cannot be claimed from the owner by the tenant.
10. Using the key, the (adult) tenant can open and close the cover/lid of the pool (instruction video sent before check-in).
11. Dogs are never allowed in the pool as the liner (interior of the pool) may be damaged.
12. At least once a week, our poolman checks and cleans our pool, testing the water values.
Charging Your Electric Car
We offer an additional service for charging your car: a 7 KWh charging station that you can use during the day or at night. If you wish to use this, please let us know (Rob and/or Liesbeth). We will then reserve the charging station for you. Afterward, we will bill you per KWh used.
Registration is handled via the charging station app in our possession.
Parking Your Car
You can best park your car at the top, near the garden gate. For unloading your luggage, you can drive down once for convenience.
When You Depart
Please leave the house clean, throw away garbage in the bins provided in the village, remove the bedding from the beds, and place it along with used hand and tea towels in the laundry room. Before leaving, please return the house keys to the key box.
